Helix Boogie Preset
The Boogie Helix Preset
Recently I realized how much I missed my 20 units rig with the Mesa Boogie Triaxis, my stereo 2:90 power amp and big roadready Boogie cabinets with 12″ speakers.
I’ve used that set-up on tons of TV-shows and numerous recordings. I had that setup for almost two decades.
This preset is my take on reproducing some of that energy and power that rig supplied.
In short: The Boogie Helix Preset gives you up in your face clean tone, transparent crunchy flavors and intense lead tones.
The 8 Snapshots give me easy acces to a clean dry, a clean more ambient snap, 2 different crunchy snaps for rhythm playing and the 4 different snaps for soloing - from a rather clean transparent...

Helix Sparkling Preset

This video gives you samples from from my Sparkling preset. Recently I sat down I dialed in this … I was thinking of some of the flavors I got back in the days. A really clean but still warm core sound from a powerfull tube-amp, with a mixture of tc electronics iconic 2290, their M5000 reverbs and the sparkling shimmering flavors from my Strymon units. Still I also wanted to dial in some leadto...

This video gives you some samples of all the different tones you can get from my Session Start preset. This is the preset I've have used on ALL the sessions and videos I've done and shared on youtube, while I've been using my Vanilla, my white strat-type guitar for more than 2 years. Since I bought my Helix about 2, 5 years ago I've used this preset ... been developing it every once in a while,...

I am so happy and proud to be able to release this tune "Isolated". The single is a result of an international collaboration with some incredibly talented and inspiring colleagues that I am lucky to have in my network. In 2020, my colleagues' and my everyday lives changed very suddenly. I had planned concerts, workshops, and tours in several different countries in Europe, but from one day to an...

I am thrilled and filled with pride as I present this version of the song "We Were so Close," which is a remarkable collaboration with some incredibly talented musicians. In 2020, my colleagues and I faced the disappointment of canceled tours and live shows due to the disruptive impact of the pandemic. However, fortune smiled upon us as I connected with some exceptionally talented individuals i...
Sparkling Helix Floor Preset with my Gibson ES346
Просмотров 211Год назад
Here's some samples with my Gibson ES346 into my Helix Floor, using that as my soundcard for Logic. No eqs, compressors or additional effects are added to the guitarparts. I've only panned some of the parts and adjusted the volume. I actually made this preset with my strat, Vanilla, but wanted to remember how my ES346 felt, since I haven't used it for a while ... by coincidence it was Sparkling...
Boss Pocket GT

Boss has asked me to review the Pocket GT. Last week, after receiving the unit from Roland, I spend a little time making some presets on my own, inspired from the factory presets, while drinking my morning coffee, just to get to know the unit. Lots of fun, and easy to do this. Yesterday I brought the Pocket GT with me on vacation and here's my first run thru those presets I made. Iphone on the ...

Guitar for the song "Recharged" - with The LAB
Просмотров 1343 года назад
Some time ago I did this session - a pop/funk tune, for singer Linda Andrews new project - The LAB. The arrangement and production was really packed with small riffs and tons of chords, changing throughout the whole song, so it was really challenging to come up with some interesting parts. To me it's like a complicated puzzle - love these kinds of challenges. I know I came up with way to many i...
The Perfect Tone - The Ultimate Sound

For years I've been dreaming about finding the perfect sound - the right guitar, the right pedals thru the right amp ...The ultimate sound that will work no matter what. But it just lead to frustration ... and doubt - do I do something wrong or? Why is a sound that's working super great in one track, or with one band, why isn't it working in another track? Maybe there isn't anything wrong with ...

Stainless steel vs nickel frets

How are Stainless steel frets compared to nickel frets? Do they sound different? Are they easier or harder to play? In this video I'll tell you how I experience the difference - why I chose as I did. The video will give you tons of samples. First just acoustically, then through my amp with clean and overdriven sounds. This is done with all possible pickup-settings, so you really have a good cha...

👌Great sounds .....Soren .. .....well played ....well presented ...recd loud and clean ...down under 🇦🇺 tak
Thank you mate :-) Hope you're doing great :-)
I use these presets for my main live setup. It sounds GREAT and it cuts right through in the middle of my six man band's sound. Perfect for rythm and solos - no need for bleeding ears! I like it a lot, Søren! It makes my Hlix life much easier ;-) Looking forward to the next update.
Thank you soooooooooo much - so glad to hear. And I'll do my very best to make some new add-ons, and fun stuff soon :-)
Killer man!!
Thank you so much Mike :-)
Absolutely LOVE your 4 presets!! Please do more!!
Thank you very very much .. fantastic to read that. II am working on it, but am also thorough, so it takes some time :-)
As an experienced Helix user, I have gone through a great many presets. I like versatility and a good basic sound. I have all of Søren's presets and I will admit that I actually ended up using this exact preset as my main sound for live use, minimal tweaking has been necessary. When you have this preset, you have the universal key to perfect sound for almost everything. You can supplement with the 3 other presets that Søren has made. Søren, it's damn well done. Thank you very much.....
Wuhhhuuuuu thank you Christian - I'm SO happy that other players benefit from the many many hours I've spend in dialing in these flavors - thank you :-)
I was going round in circles tweaking presets and trying to balance presets achieve a consistant tone and never been quite happy with the outcome. However, I've loaded a set list with just Soren's Presets and havent needed to do anything else other than re-order the layout of snapshots to what I'm used to. The presets as they are provide a terrific range of useful sounds with a ton of options so if you need more stomp effects they're already to go with occasional slight output EQ to suit the venue. Many good comments from band members and gig crowds for the awesome guitar tones. Many, many thanks Soren 😃My Helix has come alive and found it's purpose in life.......
Wow ... thank you sooooooooo much for such a comment og review - I'm SO glad to hear that my presets work as I hope they will - thank you for sharing this :-)
Great sounds ....well presented..... your usual precision touch with excellent feel ....tak mate

I’m very happy with this preset and use it live. It has been easy to fine tune to fit my guitars. Great work Søren 👍
So glad to hear - Thanx to the max!!!
I have been on Helix for somewhile now, and i had maybe a preset for every song, so was still doing some tap-dance, now I have been using these presets since october 2022, and i have noticed that these are the only presets i use now, they cover almost everything, and the sound.....wow, you have done a very good job there Søren, keep up the good work
I'm soooooo glad to hear Kurt - thank you very much!!!!
I have been using these presets for a while and I must say that it opens up a new world of usability of my Helix, not least when performing live. This is great stuff, Søren🎸! I am looking forward to the next update, hopefully including the clean Paul Jackson Jr. direct line-in sound
So glad to read you're happy - and thank you very, very much for your positive words - that's awesome!

Thanks a lot, truly appreciate that you let me know you like them - thank you!! Those sound are some of my own presets. Since I made this video, I've adjusted on those and made many more. 2:30 good thing you have SS frets now 😂. I also have SS frets on my guitar. Still not sure if I like them as much. Next guitar I will try EVO gold frets, they’re right in the middle
For a periode I haven't been playing my PRS with the SS fret - but recently I've returned to it quite often - and I must say I looooove the feel. I will definitely go for SS-fret in the future!!
Sounds really good. What is that guitar it's awesome!!! Also, great playing
Thanks to the max Liam. The Guitar is handmade in Denmark - by Greenriver Guitars - Claus Boisen. The model is called Vanilla :-) ... named by my daughter :-)
Can I use this with a fender 68 custom deluxe with no fx loop then plug a Headrush board into fx loop ?
*yes you get an effect loop from the TAE :-)
Wonderful playing, the ducking delay really makes a huge difference! So on the timeline, is the ducking/dynamic delay a feature that you can turn on and off on it? If so, what's it called on the pedal?
There are several different brands/manufactores that make delays with this "ducking" og "dynamic" feature - so you can choose "dynamic" instead of tape or analog delay. Thank you for you kind words regarding my playing :-)
Nice video and amazing tone and fingers... seems like you struggle to get it sound messy and muddy but you simply can't LOL. I'm considering buying a TC Duck Tail analog delay with tap to just hook it to my H&K tubeman and go as simple as possible.
Thanks a lot - I'm really happy about the ducking function :-)
@@SorenReiff you are using that very same pedal? Thx
@@guitarrizer I'm using a Strymon TimeLine in this ... but it's the same no matter what ducking or dynamic delay you're using. Stay cool!
@@SorenReiff oh man, just my T-rex duck tail arrived and I'm very very pleased. With ducking it gives you plenty of time time to tap the tempo stomp it on while you are rythm and then switch to lead chanel smoothly, and then back to rythm again with no worries at all for having delay in wrong passages. It's digital and makes that of gated reverb sound because of the noise gate that made me doubious, but once you dial the sensitivity and levels it just stands out from the tape or normal delay... it's a very serious tool for live performances. Thanks again :)
@@guitarrizer you're welcome!
Also comparing frets with two different wood types is pointless. Other tests with identical guitars barely yield a difference in sound.
There's no difference in feel. Polished nickel silver is as smooth as polished SS with regards to bending. Plus nickel silver sound rounder, fuller and overall sweeter. And nickel frets don't wear out on me because I have a light touch.
Now I’m understanding why and how use it in my combain, thanks a much! Beautiful playing!
Thanks a lot :-)
Awesome review, it's a much talked about subject now. Fret wire not being hard as it was in the 80s has created this concern amongst owners of high end guitars. Not all stainless is created equal. Chinese made low budget SS frets sounds as most SS will, but will not last. (HV-5) hardness rating is important to consider for longevity. Nickel now at 179-200 SS at 300-305 HV- 5 rating. Prs now uses nickel fret wire tempered at 260-279 HV-5. (Metal hardness is all in the tempering,) an extra step adding to the cost.
Wow thank for that type of info - wasn't aware of that - good to know!! Thank you for sharing Richard, and thanks a lot for your kind words :-) All the very best Soren
what about using SS fret then cut the midrange on EQ to get vintage sound?
Gracias!!!!!
Are there any mass produced electric guitar with SS frets straight out of the box?
I'm not sure - but I guess some of the newer Ibanez have - I guess Tom Quayle signature has for instance :-)
@@SorenReiff yes i looked in to it a bit more now, and it seems like the ibanez AZ series has them, and sonnemo's custom series and also chapman's pro series. and apparently some jackson has them but not sure which models. and none of these are very cheap, and refreting my own to get SS frets would cost 500 euro, which is not worth it for my cheap ass guitar. so i'll guess im just gonna buy another cheap one to have until i have saved up enough money for one of those expensive ones. because refreting or buying a new guitar every 2 years is just annoying.
Kiesel
Harley Benton fusion pro models, they have a very low price (the price of a refret) so you can try it. I bought a used one, it needed a little fretdressing after that it's been fine ;-) SS frets must be perfectly leveled and polished to work, if they are rough they stay rough and bending won't work, if they are polished to a high shine bending will be heaven. FWIW
bruh you need room treatment badly!
I know!!!!!!!!!!!
@@SorenReiff I did what i could with my room, but given it's also my bedroom I am very limited. I found that airtight wooden boxes, with thick foam inside them, and diffusers on top, with a space between the backwall of the box and the first layer of foam are the most effective while still looking good enough to hang anywhere. it really is a funny feeling speaking into them.
@@Mune.T I know from my former studio, how it felt the moment I entered ... and this is the complete opposite :-(
